Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig will not sign both Lyon’s Castello Lukeba and Feyenoord’s Luthsarel Geertruida due to the cost to sign the two.
Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder confirmed that due to the cost of both defenders, only one of them will join the Bundesliga side. Which ever of the defenders joins Leipzig will be the replacement for Joško Gvardiol who has joined Manchester City for a world record fee for a defender.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier that Leipzig were set to make a new approach for Geertruida after they had an offer rejected for Lukeba. The price for Geertruida could break Feyenoord’s transfer record which is currently set at €25m when midfielder Orkun Köckü joined Benfica earlier in the transfer window.
While it has also been previously reported that Leipzig are closing in on completing the signing of Lukeba as they are close to matching Lyon’s asking price. While media in France reports that the defender has requested to join Leipzig this summer.
