Bild reports that Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is set to miss four to six weeks following an MCL injury picked up in Bayern’s 2-1 loss to Saarbrücken in the DFB-Pokal.
de Ligt was substituted off in the 25th minute following a tackle he made on a Saarbrücken player. It is reported that the 24-year-old has not only injured his MCL but has also picked up capsule damage on his leg.
This now means Bayern only have one fit defender in Kim Min-Jae with a crucial fixture against Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. Bild also reports that this could reopen the door for Jérôme Boateng to join the club after Bayern initially rejected the opportunity earlier in the season.
Boateng has been training with Bayern Munich II to keep up his fitness since Bayern decided against him joining the senior team. Thomas Tuchel remains a supporter of offering a short-term deal to the defender with it also being suggested that Boateng is in good shape and Bayern needs defensive back up.
