Mark Flekken set to sign for Brentford from SC Freiburg

SC Freiburg’s Mark Flekken is set to move to the Premier League and sign for Brentford, according to Sport Bild

The 29-year-old Dutch international is looking for a new adventure having spent five seasons with Freiburg. Last season the 29-year-old solidified his place as the club’s number-one goalkeeper. So far this season, he has kept 12 clean sheets in 38 Bundesliga appearances. Over the last two seasons, Flekken has played a crucial role in an incredibly successful side that looks set to play European football next season.

Freiburg sporting director Jochen Saier confirmed the likelihood of Flekken’s departure by admitting: “It may be that Mark leaves us.”

Flekken will take the number one spot at Brentford with current goalkeeper David Reya expected to leave the West London club this summer. It’s believed that Brentford will pay around €13m for the Dutchman.

It will be the second time that Brentford have signed a Freiburg player in a short space of time having already spent €25m for Kevin Schade (21). Freiburg now have an extra €40m to spend on new recruits.
