Mario Götze extends his contract at Eintracht Frankfurt early

Mario Götze has extended his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt early, the club has confirmed

On the eve of the 80th DFB Pokal final and his 31st birthday, the German international put pen to paper and extended his contract until June 2026. His original contract with The Eagles was due to expire in June 2025.

The 2014 world champion moved to Frankfurt following a spell at PSV last year. Since then, the midfielder has earned himself a place back Die Mannschaft and played 45 competitive matches for Frankfurt.

Upon signing, the soon-to-be 31-year-old said: “I’ve felt very comfortable at Eintracht Frankfurt from day one. I fell in love with the club and the city. I see myself here in the future and I want to ensure clarity with my early contract extension. I am still firmly convinced of the great potential of Eintracht. The club has a clear plan and I identify with the goals. I’m looking forward to many more games for this club.”

Tomorrow, Götze will be hoping to celebrate even more when he and his teammates take to the Olympic stadion in Berlin for the DFB Pokal final against reigning champions RB Leipzig. The Eagles already have five Pokal titles to their name, the last coming in the 2017/18 season.

Eintracht Frankfurt take on RB Leipzig tomorrow at 7pm (GMT).
