Manuel Neuer returns to Bayern Munich team training

As reported by Bild, Manuel Neuer has returned to team training at Bayern Munich.

After Germany’s early World Cup exit last year, the goalkeeper went on a skiing trip where he broke his leg during an accident on the slopes. 8.5 months later, the 37-year-old has returned to team training with fellow goalkeepers Daniel Pererz and Tom Ritzy Hülsmann.

Since Neuer’s injury, the topic of future number ones has been a constant topic at the club. After a whole back-and-forth saga with then-Monaco loanee Alexander Nübel, Bayern brought in Yann Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Fast forward to the present day, Nübel has once again left Bavarian on loan to Stuttgart, and Sommer has been sold to Inter Milan.

Bayern have just announced the signing of Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper Daniel Peretz (23), whilst Sven Ulreich (35) has played in the first two Bundesliga matches. It seems as if head coach Thomas Tuchel is happy with the goalkeepers he has for the time being and is waiting for Neuer to make a full return before giving him the number one spot again.

Ulreich is no stranger to playing second fiddle to Neuer. Meanwhile, Peretz will learn from the experienced goalkeepers with the long-term goal of eventually being Bayern’s number one.
