Manuel Neuer confirms he will not be called up to German national team in November

Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League game on Wednesday against Galatasaray, Manuel Neuer has confirmed that he will not be called up to the German national team ahead of the international break.

When asked if he would play a part in the friendlies, Neuer said: “Julian Nagelsmann and I are in contact and we also spoke after the Dortmund game. We agreed that I won’t be travelling to the national team and use the time here instead. We spoke openly about everything. I will do everything to be back to the national team next year. I’m ambitious and always want to be on the pitch, no matter which team I’m playing for.”

During the upcoming international break, Germany are to play Austria in Vienna and then Turkey in Berlin this means that there will be only one international break left for coach Julian Nagelsmann to test players that he could potentially call up ahead of the beginning of the Euros in June next summer.

Marc-André ter Stegen will once again likely be the number one in the upcoming friendlies but it is unknown whether Nagelsamnn will once again call up four goalkeepers like he did when Germany travelled to the US in October.

Neuer made his return to the Bayern Munich starting 11 in their 8-0 win against Darmstadt. Since his return, Neuer has yet to concede in the Bundesliga but did concede twice as Bayern were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal in a 2-1 loss to Saarbrücken.
