Manchester United in pole position to sign Marcel Sabitzer

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are in pole position to sign Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich.

Fellow Premier League side Chelsea also enquired about the Austrian international and haven’t given up on the signing as of now. However, Manchester is looking like the likely destination for the midfielder who is reportedly at Munich airport.

Bayern Munich are in talks with both clubs, and Sabitzer was also absent from training on Tuesday. Manchester United are looking for reinforcements following an injury to Christian Eriksen, who is expected to miss around three months, whilst Jorginho’s Chelsea is nearing a move to Arsenal.

Sabitzer has featured in 15 of Bayern Munich’s 18 Bundesliga games this season, but has started just eight, and that was in the absence of Leon Goretzka who was injured at the time.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea have registered their interest and it’s quite possible that Sabitzer could move on deadline day. Julian Nagelsmann opted for Ryan Gravenberch against FC Köln and in the absence of Goretzka against Eintracht Frankfurt, Nagelsmann opted for Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala ahead of Joshua Kimmich, who acted as a single-pivot.
