In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kim Min-jae has said goodbye to Napoli after one year at the club with Bayern Munich now making the move official.
“I sent this message to all the Napoli fans who have shown love and support,” started Kim. “Thanks to you that Scudetto was possible after Maradona, 33 years ago.
“To my passionate club Napoli, Mr Spalletti, my team mates and above all to Napoli fans, I would like to express my gratitude.
“No matter where I will be or no matter where I go, I will remember Napoli and cheer for you.
“Grazie.
“Forza Napoli sempre.”
Kim was already in Munich earlier today to finalise his move from Napoli. The Rekordmeister activated the South Korean’s reported €50m release clause earlier in the month.
Kim and his advisors were present at Bayern’s Säbener Strasse HQ at midday and the player will make his way to Tegernsee, where the club are currently undergoing a training camp, later today. The central-defender won’t be in the squad to face FC Rottach-Egern, but will travel with his new team mates to Asia.
Manchester United did make an attempt to hijack Bayern Munich’s move for Kim, but the South Korea international only had an intention to join the Bundesliga champions, and had also rejected other top offers. Kim has signed a long-term contract until 2028.
