Karim Adeyemi sidelined for Borussia Dortmund’s opening game of the season

Karim Adeyemi has been unable to train due to a muscular problem and now according to Sport1, the German attacker will be sidelined for Borussia Dortmund’s opening game of the season against Schott Mainz in the DFB Pokal on Saturday afternoon.

This is also reported by Bild, who suggest that Adeyemi will also miss the game. However, BVB remain hopeful that the 21-year-old will feature against FC Köln in the Bundesliga Topspiel the following weekend.

Adeyemi’s had a difficult time at Borussia Dortmund since his move from RB Salzburg last summer. Due to various injuries last season, the German missed 104 days and it’s unlikely that the player will be rushed back by Edin Terzic as to avoid a potential risk for further injuries.

Gregor Kobel and Nico Schlotterbeck are also both sidelined, but BVB will make a late decision on whether or not they will make the Pokal squad for their game against Scott Mainz.
