Julian Nagelsmann announces first Germany squad for October international break

Julian Nagelsmann has announced his first squad as Germany head coach ahead of the international break where they will travel to the US to face the USA and Mexico in two friendlies.

With a new manager brings new opportunities for players ahead of the European Championships in Germany next summer. Some of the new arrivals include Stuttgart’s Chris Führich, Union Berlin’s Kevin Behrens and Bayer Leverkusen’s Robert Andrich.

A surprise inclusion is Mats Hummels who will receive his first call-up since Euro 2020 when Germany were eliminated in the quarter-finals against England. 

There have also been some notable exclusions with Borussia Dortmund trio Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi all missing out on this international break’s games. Timo Werner misses out once again as the striker has struggled to find form for RB Leipzig this season.

Goalkeepers: Marc-André ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp, Oliver Baumann, Bernd Leno

Defenders: Robin Gosens, Mats Hummels, David Raum, Antonio Rüdiger, Niklas Süle, Jonathan Tah, Malick Thiaw

Midfielders: Robert Andrich, Julian Brandt, Chris Führich, Leon Goretzka, Pascal Groß, İlkay Gündoğan, Jonas Hofmann, Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sané, Florian Wirtz

Attackers: Kevin Behrens, Niclas Füllkrug, Kai Havertz, Thomas Müller
