Joe Scally could lose his place at Borussia Mönchengladbach

According to Bild, Borussia Mönchengladbach right-back Joe Scally could lose his place in the team due to poor performances.

Since the beginning of this season, Scally has struggled under new coach Gerardo Seaone and the American will miss a significant amount of time training under the Swiss boss as he has travelled a total of 15,000km for games against Uzbekistan and Oman.

The 20-year-old lost his place at the end of last season to Stefan Lainer under Daniel Farke has he had begun to stagnate in his development at the club, now this progression has resulted in Scally’s regression and has not been improving at Gladbach.

With this regression as well as the lack of competition at Gladbach due to Lainer’s cancer diagnosis it is possible that when Scally returns to Germany, Nico Elvedi will have replaced him at right-back who Seaone believes can fill the position. This could provide Scally with the motivation needed to pick up his form and try and win his place back and deliver on the promise that came when Gladbach bought him in 2021.
