Jeremie Frimpong is set to sign an extended deal at Bayer Leverkusen

As reported by Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong is set to sign an extended deal at the club. This comes a week after Argentinian World Cup winner Exequiel Palacios agreed to renew his contract with the Werkself, as Leverkusen look to tie down their key players.

With Frimpong’s current deal set to expire in 2025, there were fears at the BayArena that the 22-year-old would have to be sold next summer for as little as €25m. However, it is understood that Leverkusen are looking to extend the Dutchman’s deal until 2028, offering them a better negotiating position regarding a potential future sale.

Nevertheless, with Xabi Alonso’s side sitting top of the Bundesliga table – in part thanks to Frimpong – the Werkself will be hoping to keep the wing-back for the foreseeable future. Four goal contributions in his first six Bundesliga outings highlights the importance Frimpong has on this side, as Leverkusen look to mount a title challenge this season.

Nonetheless, a new deal for Frimpong would see him become one of the top earners at the club – matching his contribution to the side. A deal that suits all parties, it is an exciting time to be associated with Die Werkself.
