Freiburg interested in Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto

Bild reports that Freiburg are interested in Leeds United striker Wilfried Gnonto as they look for reinforcements in attack this summer.

Gnonto is Freiburg’s main target and the 19-year-old reportedly also wants to move to the Bundesliga side. However, Leeds are demanding €25m for Gnonto which is too much for Freiburg and the 19-year-old also does not want a loan move and wants to leave the club permanently, meaning if Leeds do not lower their asking price then a move is unlikely to happen.

Freiburg have also been linked with Gnonto’s teammate Geogrinio Rutter, but a move for the former Hoffenheim striker would only likely be a loan.

An alternative option for Freiburg is River Plate’s Lucas Beltran. However, in a similar situation to Gnonto, River are asking for €25m for the 22-year-old but the club are slowly lowering their demands for the striker and so a move could become more feasible.

It is unknown whether Freiburg will complete the signing of a new attacker before their opener against Hoffenheim on the 19th August but after relying heavily on Vincenzo Grifo for goals last season, the club wants to add more dynamism to their attack.
