Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting set to sign Bayern Munich extension

As reported by Sport Bild, Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to extend his contract beyond the summer, but final details are still being discussed.

Following the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona in the summer, Choupo-Moting has become an integral player for Julian Nagelsmann. The 33-year-old has scored 13 and created four across 22 games in all competitions. Choupo-Moting scored in seven successive games between October and November.

It was reported late last month by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg that Choupo-Moting was close to reaching an agreement with the Rekordmeister, and it now appears we’re in the final stages.

The Cameroonian joined Bayern Munich from PSG on a free transfer in 2020, initially as back-up, but has now played 80 games across all competitions, scoring 31 and creating 10.

Choupo-Moting started in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win against PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The second-leg at the Allianz Arena in on March 8.
