Enrico Maaßen’s job could come under pressure if Augsburg fail to win at the weekend

According to Kicker, Augsburg’s game against Darmstadt at the weekend is likely to put more pressure on coach Enrico Maaßen depending on the result.

The future of Maaßen could come into doubt at the weekend if Augsburg fails to beat Darmstadt as new Augsburg sporting director Marinko Jurendic wants to see improvement and development within the squad, which has not been seen yet and the international break will give the directors at Augbsurg to evaluate the situation and make a decision if necessary.

Despite Maaßen being proactive in trying to address the issues within the squad the fact that Finn Dahmen is in his first season as a starting goalkeeper and Patric Pfeiffer, Tim Breithaupt and Philipp Tietz have all come from the 2.Bundesliga means they are all getting used to Bundesliga football while the team battles relegation.

Since the beginning of the year, Augsburg have only won twice in 17 games in the Bundesliga which is one of the worst records in the league only ahead of Bochum.
