Eintracht Frankfurt working on a transfer for Ellyes Skhiri

Sport1 and Kicker report that Eintracht Frankfurt are working on a transfer to bring 1.FC Köln midfield Ellyes Skhiri when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Sporting director Markus Krösche has been working on the transfer to bring the 28-year-old to the club. Skhiri is reportedly going to make his decision on his future at the beginning of next week.

Frankfurt had originally looked past Skhiri when they were searching for midfield options, however, with the potential departure of Dijbril Sow and Sebastian Rode potentially entering the final year of his career, Skhiri now seems like a good idea. While the club are also set to play Conference League football next year, so need added depth in their midfield.

Frankfurt are likely to face competition from abroad for the 28-year-old. The Tunisian international is likely to earn more money abroad than in Frankfurt, so if Frankfurt fails to sign Skhiri, they will turn towards two other names who are not mentioned.
