Dani Olmo an option against Manchester City

RB Leipzig have received a boost ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 game against Manchester City on Tuesday night. Speaking ahead of the tie, Marco Rose confirmed that Dani Olmo will return to the squad and is an option for the Bundesliga side, should they need to call upon the Spaniard.

“Dani Olmo did a recovery session yesterday,” said Rose. “He will likely be an option tomorrow and can play for 20 minutes. However, we’re talking about a Champions League Round of 16 game here, and he’s not back to full strength yet. He will still be able to help us out tomorrow.”

The tie is leveled after 90 minutes after Riyad Mahrez put Manchester City into a 1-0 lead before Josko Gvardiol equalised for RB Leipzig. Heading into tomorrow’s game and following their performance in the first-leg, Timo Werner and Co. will have full belief that they can beat the Premier League side.

As for Olmo, he has missed RB Leipzig’s last seven games with a torn muscle fibre, and missed 11 games prior to that earlier in the season with a knee injury.

The 24-year-old is also heading into the final year of his contract, which expires in 2024, and discussions have already began between Max Eberl and Olmo’s representatives about signing an extension.
