Christopher Nkunku returns to team training with RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku returned to full team training on Tuesday, as reported by Kicker

The French international didn’t feature in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin and head coach Marco Rose didn’t want to rush him back into a full competitive game. The 46-year-old explained after the game: “We decided it together. He also thought it would make sense to get good training and work with the team for a week.”

However, after a six-week absence due to a muscle injury, Nkunku is back to full training and is expected to feature against Augsburg this Saturday in the Bundesliga.

Nkunku was greeted by 700 RB Leipzig fans who watched this Monday morning’s training session in a local amateur stadium.

Despite the forward’s return, there were some notable absences from the Leipzig squad. This includes Emil Forsberg and Konrad Laimer who were missing due to illness picked up over the Easter weekend.

The duo should feature at training later in the week. As long as their illnesses aren’t too bad, they should be available for selection this weekend.
