Chelsea and Manchester United interested in Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel

As reported by Sport1, both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Borussia Dortmund number one Gregor Kobel.

The Swiss international has been a stand-out performer for BVB this season and has produced a number of top saves in crucial games.

As per the report, Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on strengthening the goalkeeping area this summer.

“Kobel’s performances have aroused desires,” explains Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger. He continued to reveal: “Especially at Manchester United and Chelsea. We have now found out that before the BVB game in London, there was a meeting with an advisor from Kobel’s agency and with people from Chelsea who are very interested.”

The 25-year-old is contracted with BVB until 2026 but has no release clause. This means either Premier League club could name their price, and should the fee be big enough, it could tempt both the player and the club into an agreement.

Despite this, Kobel is willing to spend at least one more year at Dortmund.

Kobel travelled to London with Dortmund last week but playing against Chelsea in the Champions League would have likely aggravated his existing injury. This was also the reason he also missed BVB’s 2-2 draw against Schalke in the 100th Revierderby. The 25-year-old is expected to return in goal against FC Köln this weekend.
