Bundesliga Predictions | Round 18 – Union Berlin face struggling Hertha as Eintracht Frankfurt travel to Munich

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin

My match of the week is the Berlin derby and once again I think Union will be the winner here. Die Eisernen have started well after the break and can actually catch up with Bayern ahead of Saturday’s Topspiel. Hertha, in the meantime, continue to struggle and there might be some danger that this is the last Berlin derby in the Bundesliga should die Alte Dame not get their act together soon.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • RB Leipzig 3-0 Stuttgart
  • Freiburg 2-1 Augsburg
  • Mainz 1-1 Bochum
  • Hoffenheim 0-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Hertha Berlin 0-3 Union Berlin
  • Werder Bremen 0-4 Wolfsburg
  • Bayern Munich 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Schalke 0-2 FC Köln
  • Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 Borussia Dortmund

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt

There’s no doubt that Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt is perhaps the biggest fixture of the weekend, as Julian Nagelsmann’s out-of-form champions face yet another difficult task. The Eagles have one of the best away records in the Bundesliga this season and will surely fancy themselves against a Bayern team that have struggled for goals so far in 2023. This will be a tight match but I do suspect we may be in store for an upset that could blow the Bundesliga title race wide open.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • RB Leipzig 3-1 Stuttgart
  • Freiburg 1-1 Augsburg
  • Hertha Berlin 0-2 Union Berlin
  • Hoffenheim 0-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Mainz 1-0 Bochum
  • Werder Bremen 2-4 Wolfsburg
  • Bayern Munich 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Schalke 0-2 FC Köln
  • Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Scores after MD17: Manu – 105, Stefan – 89.
