Bundesliga Predictions | Round 16 – Fireworks expected between RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich as Gladbach host Bayer Leverkusen

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich

My game of the week is the Friday fixture between RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. In fact, I applaud the Bundesliga bosses to schedule it this way. This is easily the game between the two best teams in Germany and this matchup always guarantees fireworks. Leipzig could close the gap to Bayern to just three points with a win on Friday, which would be a remarkable run under head coach Marco Rose. Ultimately, I think this will be a very close affair that will likely end in a high scoring draw. Look out for new Bayern keeper Yann Sommer, he is expected to start.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • RB Leipzig 2-2 Bayern Munich
  • Union Berlin 2-1 Hoffenheim
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 Schalke
  • Wolfsburg 1-1 Freiburg
  • Bochum 1-3 Hertha Berlin
  • Stuttgart 1-1 Mainz
  • Köln 0-3 Werder Bremen
  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Augsburg
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen

Although much of the attention in the Bundesliga will be paid to Friday night’s game or the return of Sebastian Haller for Dortmund on Sunday, I’m looking forward to the derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen. Both clubs had rather eventful first halves of the season but should offer much more in the rükrunde under impressive head coaches. I think Leverkusen may nick all three points in this game, but I suspect both clubs will be pushing for top six come May.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • RB Leipzig 2-2 Bayern Munich
  • Bochum 0-1 Hertha Berlin
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 Schalke
  • Stuttgart 1-2 Mainz
  • Union Berlin 2-0 Hoffenheim
  • Wolfsburg 2-2 Freiburg
  • Köln 1-2 Werder Bremen
  • Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Augsburg
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen

Scores after MD15Manu – 91, Stefan – 71.
