Both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich interested in signing Edson Álvarez

Both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Edson Álvarez from Ajax, Patrick Berger reports.

The 25-year-old central midfielder is a key player for the Dutch side and head coach John Heitinga is keen on keeping him within his ranks. However, the club are aware of the interest from both German clubs and that everyone has their price. It’s reported that Ajax value the Mexican international at around €35m-€40m.

For Dortmund, Álvarez will be seen as a replacement for Jude Bellingham should his move to Real Madrid materialise. In terms of Bayern, they certainly have more cover in that position. This perhaps may give more insight into their summer transfer plans. What’s more, when Bayern come calling, it’s rare to see a player reject their advances.

So far, there has been no contact from either Dortmund or Bayern for Álvarez. However, this is expected to change soon.
