Borussia Mönchengladbach interested in Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai

Kicker reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai if Nico Elvedi is to leave the club this summer.

The 25-year-old is a favourite among the bosses at Gladbach. It has also been announced that Uduokhai will not extend his contract at Augsburg, which expires next summer meaning Gladbach could get the defender for a relatively small fee.

Uduokhai joined Augsburg permanently in 2020 from Wolfsburg for €7m after spending the previous year on loan at the club. However, Augsburg’s sporting director Stefan Reuter confirmed that the 25-year-old is one of the players who will leave the club either this summer or next as he rejected a contract extension offer. Last season, Uduokhai played 21 times for Augsburg as they battled relegation.

The interest in Uduokhai is due to Gladbach preparing for the potential departure of Elvedi. The Swiss international has attracted interest from Wolves in the Premier League with it being reported that talks between the two have already been held.

The departure of Elvedi will add another position that Gladbach needs to invest in as they continue their rebuild of the squad this summer.
