Borussia Dortmund line up candidates to replace Jude Bellingham

According to SportBild, Borussia Dortmund have two players lined up as potential replacements for Jude Bellingham, with it looking increasingly likely the 19-year-old will leave in the summer.

The first is Ajax’s Edson Álvarez, the midfielder can not only play as a central midfielder, but he can also play in central defence. However, the Mexican international could cost upwards of €40m. The second option is Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo, the 20-year-old was also over interest to Real Madrid as a backup option to Bellingham, Veiga’s release clause at Celta is likely to cost €40m.

However, Dortmund are aware that clubs will know the money that is available due to the departure of Bellingham, so could potentially drive the price higher.

Dortmund are looking to rejuvenate the squad this summer with the help of the money from a Bellingham sale. As well as Bellingham, the club will look to offload Nico Schulz, Thorgan Hazard and Thomas Meunier, who is likely to be replaced by Ivan Fresneda. While a sale of Giovanni Reyna is not even ruled out.
