With the international break now underway, Germany can look forward to games against the United States on Saturday and Mexico on Wednesday. These fixtures will see Julian Nagelsmann take charge of the national team for the first time, as the former Bayern Munich head coach begins preparations for the upcoming European championship.
However, these fixtures have been met with a significant amount of backlash. As previously reported, Thomas Tuchel revealed his frustration and confusion about why the games have to be played so far away during a such busy period, before Leon Goretzka further emphasised his points.
This is also something that Borussia Dortmund have found to be an issue as well, as according to Bild, BvB have organised a private jet to return their German internationals immediately back to the country after the final whistle on Wednesday morning. It is understood that the cost of the private jet has cost Dortmund €100,000.
Nevertheless, this does not ensure that Mats Hummels, Niclas Füllkrug, Julian Brandt and Niklas Süle will be available for selection when Die Schwarzgelben return to action against Werder Bremen. For head coach Edin Terzić, Hummels, Brandt and Füllkrug are particularly important and, therefore, significantly hard to replace.
If they are to be absent from the starting XI, then Terzić’s side could find themselves at a notable disadvantage against Frankfurt. Nevertheless, Dortmund will focus on ensuring that their positive form continues as they overcome the heartbreak of last season.
