Bayern Munich to hold talks with Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer over contract extensions

Kicker reports that Bayern Munich are to begin talks with Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller over extending their contracts which expire at the end of the season.

Both players are expected to be given one-year extensions, meaning their contracts will then expire in 2025. This fits Bayern’s policy of only giving players over the age of 30 one-year extensions.

Talks with Neuer are expected to begin before the end of the year after he has returned from his broken leg. The 37-year-old still believes that he can play at the top level with Bayern for several years to come. Neuer is expected to make his return to Bayern’s starting 11 either at the weekend against Mainz or at the latest the weekend after against Darmstadt.

For Müller, Bayern still believes that he is a key piece in the dressing room due to his leadership qualities regardless of his place within the squad. However, what the 34-year-old will have to do is accept his reduced playing time, which he currently has done in silence.
