Bayern Munich scored eight goals in the second-half against Darmstadt on Saturday afternoon, a club record. Not only that, according to Opta, the Rekordmeister’s 34 league goals in their first nine games of the season is also a league record.
They made life difficult for themselves when Joshua Kimmich was sent off after four minutes, but Darmstadt soon made it a level playing field when Klaus Gjasula was sent off in the 21st minute. Matej Maglica was then shown a red card for Darmstadt, meaning it was 10 vs 9 for much of the game.
Both teams went into the break on level terms, but Bayern Munich came out with a ferocious intensity. Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 51st minute and would complete his hat-trick in the 88th minute, his second in the Bundesliga. Leroy Sané and Jamal Musiala scored braces, and Thomas Müller became the first player in Bayern’s history to score at least one goal in 15 different Bundesliga seasons.
