Bayern Munich holds talks with David de Gea

Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich have held talks with David de Gea and his management as they continue their search for a backup goalkeeper.

The 32-year-old has given the green light to join Bayern as a backup to Manuel Neuer once he eventually returns, but Bayern’s priority remains Stefan Ortega. If a move for Ortega does not materialise then it is likely a deal for de Gea will be finalised quickly.

Bayern are continuing to work on a move for Ortega. Thomas Tuchel has already spoken to Ortega on the phone as the manager wants him to be their main keeper. Talks with the keeper’s management as well as Manchester City have taken place but there is no agreement yet.

The main issue is that City are reluctant to sell Ortega despite the fact that he is interested in becoming Bayern’s number one. City would need to find a replacement for the 30-year-old to play back up to Ederson in such a small amount of time. A decision is expected to be made after the Super Cup this evening where Manchester City play Sevilla.
