Bild reports that Bayern Munich continues their search for a new goalkeeper and have now added David de Gea to their list of potential candidates.
Bayern are interested in the Spaniard, who can join on a free transfer having left Manchester United this summer. Bayern wishes to contact the management of de Gea to see if he is interested in the move.
However, de Gea is not the only goalkeeper being considered. Compatriots David Raya and Robert Sánchez are also on the list but Raya is considered too small for the type of goalkeeper coach Thomas Tuchel would like. Other goalkeepers include Wojciech Szczesny, Yassine Bounou, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Kamil Grabara.
Bayern’s search for a new goalkeeper stems from the fact that Yann Sommer does not want to sit on the bench behind Manuel Neuer. The 34-year-old was promised under previous coach Julian Nagelsmann that it would be a fair fight for the number one position but Nagelsmann’s predecessor Tuchel has decided on Neuer being the number one.
Before Sommer is allowed to leave Bayern needs to find a replacement as they do not want to go into the new season with Sven Ulreich as their only fit goalkeeper and the Bavarians are in no rush to sell Sommer despite interest from Inter Milan.
