Bayern Munich contact Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Koné

Bild reports that Bayern Munich have contacted the representatives of Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné over a potential move in the future.

Bayern are assessing the possibility of a deal for the midfielder and the club’s scouts continue to monitor the midfielder. Koné current contract at Gladbach expires in 2025 and a move for the Frenchman would be seen as ‘affordable’ for Bayern.

However, Rheinische Post reports that Gladbach have a clause in the contract of Koné that they can trigger at any time that will extend his contract at the club by another year. This clause will likely reduce the pressure Gladbach have to sell Koné next summer.

It is also reported that Liverpool were genuinely interested in signing Koné in the summer and would have likely brought the 22-year-old to the Premier League if he had not injured his knee during the under-21 European Championships.

Koné has only played twice for Gladbach this season due to the recovery from his previously mentioned knee injury taking longer than expected.
