Bild reports that Bayer Leverkusen have stepped up their pursuit of Southampton’s Nathan Tella as they look to secure a replacement for Moussa Diaby.
Leverkusen see Tella as the replacement for Diaby who joined Aston Villa earlier on in the transfer window. The positive for Leverkusen is that Tella is also interested in moving to the Bundesliga. Leverkusen have already made an offer for the 25-year-old in the region of €18m but it is likely to be rejected as Southampton want closer to €20m.
die Werkself have already made some smart moves in the window this summer with the arrivals of Alejandro Grimaldo, Granit Xhaka, Victor Boniface, Jonas Hofmann and Josip Stanišic all significantly strengthening Xabi Alonso’s squad this summer.
Leverkusen started the season off with a 3-2 win against RB Leipzig. Goals from Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah and Florian Wirtz secured the win for Leverkusen in what was an end-to-end game.
