Barcelona register interest in Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich

Barcelona head coach Xavi has registered his interest in signing Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, Sky Germany cites Mundo Deportivo.

The Barca head coach has often been full of praise when it comes to the German international. Xavi makes his thoughts clear when it comes to any potential signing between the Spanish giants and Kimmich.

“If there is an open door, there will be negotiations with Bayern.” He continues: “It is clear that we need a player of a very high level in this position, otherwise it will be very difficult to keep up next year.”

However, there is no such open door in Bayern’s mind. Kimmich is under contract until 2025 and they see his future with them. Despite this, Barca are making it clear that should the 28-year-old be interested in moving away, he always has a place in the Barca starting 11.

“The club already knows that if I have to call someone or travel, I will do it,” said the 2010 world champion and again praised Kimmich to the skies: “He is an absolute top player who plays the game in a fantastic way and manner understands.”

Kimmich remains a key player in Thomas Tuchel’s squad and has been renowned for creating multiple chances throughout every game. In Bayern’s game against Hertha Berlin in May, Kimmich created a total of 11 chances, the most in a single Bundesliga game since detailed data collection began in 2004/05.
