As reported by Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen have set a price tag of over €100m for Florian Wirtz. Despite rumours from media outlets in England, B04 are sure that the German international won’t leave in the winter, but a summer deal could be plausible if the money was right.
The money being right is the big factor in any future deal. When asked about the possible €92m bid by Liverpool, B04 sporting director Simon Rolfes turned his nose up at the amount.
“That’s not an issue at all,” explained the sporting director, insinuating at that such a fee wouldn’t be hard to turn down.
The message is clear: if Wirtz is to leave Leverkusen, it will be for a club record fee. The current record is held by Kai Havertz who left for Chelsea in 2020 for €80m. However, with add-ons and bonuses, this fee rose to €100m. This means that any transfer for Wirtz will have to surpass the 100 million mark.
