Alexander Nübel to join VfB Stuttgart on loan

Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nübel will join VfB Stuttgart on loan for the rest of the season.

The two clubs have agreed on a loan fee of €1m with the goalkeeper’s medical planned for tomorrow. Nübel has forged part of his salary to join Stuttgart but his €2m a year will still make him one of the top earners at the club.

This will be Nübel’s second loan away from Bayern having spent two years on loan at AS Monaco. Since joining from Schalke in 2020, Nübel has only played four times for Bayern and has not come close to displacing Manuel Neuer as number one at the club which was the aim when he first joined.

Nübel’s contract at Bayern expires in 2025 so the club will have one more chance to sell the 26-year-old for a fee. While for Stuttgart, the arrival of Nübel now means that they can focus on the development of 17-year-old goalkeeper Dennis Seiman who Stuttgart see as their future number one within the next two years.
