A decision on Jérôme Boateng to be made by Bayern Munich on Friday

According to Bild, a decision by Bayern Munich on whether Jérôme Boateng will rejoin the club is expected to be made on Friday.

Boateng has been training with both the Bayern senior team as well as the under-23s as they continued negotiations over a potential return to the club for the 35-year-old. Bayern are currently experiencing a shortage of centre-backs with Matthijs de Ligt and youth centre-back Tarek Buchmann both suffering from injuries

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is a fan of the defender and is the one pushing for the commitment due to the lack of reinforcements brought in over the summer.

However, the bosses at the club are sceptical of the signing, not only because Boateng is not at the right level for Bayern but the 35-year-old is dealing with ongoing legal issues, as proceedings of a court case against the defender for assault towards one of his former partners to begin again soon.

The rumour around the re-signing of Boateng has caused unrest amongst fans due to Bayern trying to become a more family-friendly club and the signing of an individual who has an ongoing court case for assault goes against those values.
