Youssoufa Moukoko reluctant to sign latest Borussia Dortmund contract

As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Youssoufa Moukoko (17) is reluctant to accept Borussia Dortmund’s latest proposal for a new contract.

An extension under previous head coach Marco Rose seemed impossible but it’s suggested that those around Moukoko want to see how his playing time develops before making a decision on his future – the German’s current deal expires in 2023.

Following the unfortune diagnosis of Sébastien Haller, who has had surgery to remove a testicular tumour and is sidelined for the foreseeable, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke stated that he would like to find a successor ideally in the next 10 days.

Mauro Icardi and Memphis Depay are two names that have been linked with BVB, but are unrealistic. Anthony Modeste on a short-term deal looks more feasible but the Frenchman’s arrival could also impact Moukoko’s playing time. And that’s why his entourage want to see how this plays out before making a decision.

Borussia Dortmund absolutely want to extend Moukoko’s contract but could also be resigned to losing the German youth international on a free transfer if an agreement isn’t reached.
