Xabi Alonso convinced Callum Hudson-Odoi will stay at Bayer Leverkusen

Xabi Alonso is convinced that Callum Hudson-Odoi will stay at Bayer Leverkusen for the second half of the season. This comes after a suggestion that there’s a clause in the loan agreement between Chelsea and Leverkusen, meaning that the 22-year-old could be recalled in the winter.

On Hudson Odoi, Alonso said: “I would very much like to keep him. I am sure he will stay until the end of the season. He is an important player for us.” Hudson-Odoi also opened up to how happy he is at Leverkusen: “I play a lot here and I really enjoy it. It was the right time for my career to come here.”

Since his move to die Werkself, Hudson Odoi has played 15 games in all competitions and has a goal and assist for the club. The Englishman has put in solid performances for Leverkusen, but is still missing the end product which would help him even more in his development.

Although three caps for England before his 21st birthday, Hudson-Odoi could have been at the World Cup this month after Ghana coach Otto Addo tried persuading the young forward, who has Ghanaian parents. The reason for Hudson-Odoi’s rejection is because he wants focus on B04 and hopes for a return to the England national team.
