Up to six outfield players could leave Wolfsburg this summer

Wolfsburg will allow six players to leave the club as Niko Kovač looks to cut his squad down to 22 players instead of the current 28, according to Bild.

“We want to work with 22 outfield players plus the goalkeepers, everything else will be too much,” said Kovač.

Per the report, Marin Pongračić, Josuha Guilavogui, Kevin Mbabu, Elvis Rexhbecaj, Felix Nmecha, Omar Marmoush, Josip Brekalo and Anselmo García McNulty are all candidates for a potential departure, should Wolfsburg receive an adequate offer.

Pongračić spent last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund and has two-years remaining on his contract. However, the central-defender is currently in a legal dispute with VfL and would like a new start.

Guilavogui and Mbabu are entering the final year of their contracts. Some Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing the former whilst newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham are interested in signing Mbabu.

Marmoush, Rexhbecaj and Brekalo all spent last season out on loan and are entering the final year of their contracts. But, Brekalo could remain at the club now that compatriot Kovač is in charge.
