Timo Werner is finding form with RB Leipzig at exactly the right time

During his side’s 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on the weekend, Timo Werner scored his 5th goal in 5 games. The German international returned to RB Leipzig this year in the hope of finding his goal-scoring form after a tough two years in the Premier League with Chelsea.

It was hoped that Werner would do that with his former employers just in time for this year’s World Cup in Qatar. It appears Turbo Timo is doing exactly that. Along with Werder Bremen’s Niclas Füllkrug, Werner is one of the top German strikers in the Bundesliga.

Speaking after the final whistle on the weekend, Werner summed up his return to Leipzig by saying: “It’s always something different when you join a new team, even if I’ve been there before. I no longer have the teammates from back then, I had to find that first. I had to prove that I’m still the Timo they used to know. Now it’s a lot of fun, also with the many position changes at the front. And especially with the trainer, it fits well.”

It’s probably a given that Werner will be on the plane heading for Qatar this month. Just how much of an impact he can make is up to him.
