Sonny Kittel receives offer from unnamed MLS club

According to Bild, Sonny Kittel looks set to bid farewell to Hamburg and move to a team in the United States’ Major League Soccer.

It’s reported that the 29-year-old free-kick specialist has received a two-and-a-half-year contract and a much higher wage from an American-based club.

The transfer fee for the HSV midfielder is reported to be around the €1m mark.

Bild do not mention the club in question within their report but seem certain that Kittel, whose HSV contract runs out in 2023, is preparing to leave the 2. Bundesliga for the MLS.

Kittel joined Hamburg in 2019 from Ingolstadt on a free transfer and was one of HSV’s best players last season, playing a vital role in the club’s near promotion. In all competitions, he featured 40 times scoring 9 goals and providing 18 assists.

Hamburg missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga last season after losing the playoff to Hertha Berlin.
