Official | Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanišić signs contract extension until 2026

Bayern Munich have today announced the contract extension of 22-year-old right-back Josip Stanišić until 2026. The Croatia international, who will represent his country at the World Cup in Qatar later this month, joined the Bundesliga club at U17 level in 2017.

“Josip has established himself in our senior squad over the past two years, and that’s also credit to our youth academy because Josip was trained by us at the Campus,” said Hasan Salihamidžić.

“He’s versatile in where he can play, performs well when needed. His reliability helps our coach and the team. I’m happy we can plan further with him for the long term.”

Stanišić was awarded his Bundesliga debut under Hansi Flick eight days after his 21st birthday against Union Berlin in April 2021. He would also make his Champions League debut for the Rekordmeister against Barcelona the same year, but under Julian Nagelsmann.

Under Nagelsmann, Stanišić has played 1,125 across 25 games in all competitions. The Croatian has become a valuable member for Bayern, providing competition for Benjamin Pavard and Noussair Mazraoui at right-back but can also provide cover at left-back, a position he’s already played six times this season.
