Augsburg have today announced the arrival of 18-year-old American forward Ricardo Pepi from MLS side FC Dallas on a permanent basis for a reported €16m plus future incentives.
Pepi has signed a long-term contract with the Bundesliga side until 2026 with the option to extend the deal by a further season. The United States international underwent a medical on Sunday after landing in Munich.
“We are delighted that Ricardo has decided to join Augsburg despite interest from a number of top clubs around the world,” said Stefan Reuter. “We were able to provide him with a clear sporting plan for his future development that convinced him to come here.”
Pepi, delighted with the move, added: “Moving to Europe after the conclusion of the MLS season was my dream. I believe Augsburg and the Bundesliga will prove the perfect settings for me to gain match practise at the top level as a youngster.”
Pepi scored 13 and created three in 31 games for FC Dallas in 2021.
