Martín Demichelis set to become River Plate head coach

Bayern Munich II head coach Martín Demichelis is set to leave the club and become the head coach of Argentinian side River Plate, according to Florian Plettenberg

The former Argentinian international played over 170 times for Bayern Munich between 2003 and 2010. Demichelis went on to play for Málaga CF, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City, and Espanyol. In 2019, the 41-year-old took over as Bayern U19 coach before taking charge of the second team in 2021.

It’s unsurprising that Demichelis has jumped at the chance of coaching a top club in his native country. Bayern bosses are aware of Demichelis’ decision and will take over the club in January 2023.

Bayern have Holger Seitz ready to step in as head coach who has previously managed the side on two occasions in recent years.

Currently 20 games into the Regionalliga season, Bayern II are currently in 6th position on 29 points.
