Manchester United intensify efforts to sign Jude Bellingham

Last summer, Jude Bellingham was a wanted man and 2023 will be no different. As reported by Sky Germany‘s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have intensified their efforts of signing the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

Erik ten Hag wants to sign Bellingham but the Premier League club expect the England international to cost around €150m. They also face competition from Manchester City and Liverpool but it will also be difficult to negotiate a deal due to Financial Fair Play (FFP).

Liverpool are also optimistic about their chances of signing Bellingham. He remains Jürgen Klopp’s number one target and LFC want to invest in the summer. Plettenberg further adds that PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have no chance of signing the BVB player.

Since his €25m move from Birmingham City in July 2020, Bellingham has played 110 games across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 19 and creating 20. Under Edin Terzic, the Stourbridge born midfielder has also taken on a new role at the club – Bellingham is BVB’s third captain behind Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.

Bellingham came fourth in the Kopa Trophy, behind Gavi (Barcelona), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid) and Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich). The 19-year-old also became just the third teenager to score in four consecutive Champions League games, joining Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.
