Despite the summer window only just closing, rumours of next year’s transfers are already starting to take shape. According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund are showing a keen interest in Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita.
The 27-year-old Guinean international has been with Liverpool since transferring from RB Leipzig in 2018. During his time with the Saxons, Keita played 71 competitive matches and scored 17 goals.
Since playing in the Premier League, Keita has occasionally struggled for playing time as well as injuries. Despite this, it’s reported that Jürgen Klopp wishes to extend the midfielder’s stay beyond his current contract which ends in 2023. The player himself may not prefer this option if it means more time that is spent on the bench.
A Bundesliga return could be on the cards with Borussia Dortmund who are believed to be interested in the Guinean’s services. This may sound more appealing to Keita rather than being a secondary player in Klopp’s side.
