Julian Nagelsmann: “The players are mature and are free to decide what they do on their day off.”

Speaking to media ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga game against Augsburg, head coach Julian Nagelsmann has defended his player’s for their trip to Ibiza following their 3-1 defeat against Mainz last weekend.

“I’m responsible for the sporting side. I lived up to the responsibility and approved two days off. If the players want to fly away together, they should do it,” said Nagelsmann. “I’m not their father or educator. The players are mature and are free to decide what they do on their days off.”

According to Sport1, Lucas Hernández, Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry were responsible for organising the two day trip. Kingsley Coman returned after one day whilst Robert Lewandowski was also there.

Speaking last week, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said: “Last week the players informed us that they would like to spend the two days off training in Ibiza. We accepted that as a team-building measure.”
