Julian Nagelsmann praises Tanguy Nianzou: “He has a very good character.”

Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann reserved special praise for 19-year-old central-defender Tanguy Nianzou after his performance against Union Berlin on Saturday evening.

“As a coach, you always hope that he’ll be almost perfect but you can’t expect that when you’re giving him so little playing time. You’re a bit responsible as a coach,” said Nagelsmann. “Overall, I was very satisfied with Tanguy. You can see that he has a very good character, that he throws everything in. He has unbelievable aggressiveness and a winning mentality that is extraordinary.”

Bayern Munich will lose Niklas Süle to Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and Nagelsmann states that there’s a chance that Nianzou could get more playing time, but that it’s up to him: “We’re going to look at the transfer market. Not only are we going into the new season with the players we have, we’re also going to do something about it. Tanguy definitely has a chance to get more playing time.”
