Julian Nagelsmann on Alexander Nübel: “He has potential to be Bayern goalkeeper.”

Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s game against Hertha Berlin, Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann has spoken about the future of Alexander Nübel and current number one Manuel Neuer.

When asked about both Neuer and Nübel, Nagelsmann explained: “I rate Alex Nübel highly. It wasn’t surprising that Brazzo flew to meet him. It’s actually his job to take care of the players. Manu is an outstanding goalkeeper who still wants to play for a long time so for me it’s more worth talking about Manu.”

Nagelsmann is open to a future where Nübel is number one. The 35-year-old is certainly keeping his options open and why not? It’s a nice problem to have. Talking about the future, the Bayern boss said: “We’ll see what the future will bring. Alex has all the potential you need to be a great goalkeeper – he has potential to be Bayern goalkeeper. But goalkeeper is a position where only one player plays and you don’t rotate. That’s the problem of being a goalkeeper.”
