Joshua Kimmich disappointed with Germany’s first half performance vs Hungary

Germany suffered their first defeat under Hansi Flick on Friday night as they suffered a 1-0 loss against Hungary in the UEFA Nations League, dropping Die Mannschaft down to third in the group.

Speaking to broadcaster ZDF (via iMiaSanMia) after the game, Joshua Kimmich stated his disappointment at Germany’s first half performance. “We were too slow in our passing game and made too many mistakes.

“Winning the Nations League group was our goal but that wasn’t noticeable in the first half. We did nothing and lacked everything.”

Former Mainz forward Ádám Szalai (34) scored the only goal of the game after 17 minutes, poking the ball in from close range at the near post following a corner.

In the absence of Manuel Neuer, who’s in isolation, as is Leon Goretzka, after testing positive for Covid-19, Thomas Müller captained the team before Kimmich took over after his substitution.

Germany face England on Monday night as Flick prepares his squad for the World Cup.
