Ahead of Lille’s Champions League game against Chelsea, Kicker report today that 22-year-old forward Jonathan David failed to impress in a trial at Bundesliga side Stuttgart.
Before his 18th birthday, the Canada international applied for a trial at Stuttgart after his coach sent in a video, but he failed in a trial. This instead resulted in a move to Belgian side KAA Gent in 2018.
“I was totally upset,” David later told Het Nieuwsblad. “I was perfectly prepared and thought what I had shown was enough. I’m 100 percent sure of that.”
David has since shone on in Europe and has attracted attention from Europe’s biggest clubs.
